Hitomi Mochizuki is a Japanese born photographer and fine art artist based in Tokyo and New York City. Born 1977, her childhood was spent in the natural beauty of Shizuoka, Japan. She formally started training in drawing, oil painting, and graphic design in art school & high school when she was 15 years old, then attended Musashino Art University Tokyo, where she studied photography, editorial design, sculpture, and drawing.
After graduation, she began a career as a graphic designer and after several years decided to pursue a career as a photographer and served as assistant photographer at “STUDIO FOBOS”, one of the most famous photography studio in Tokyo. The focus at “STUDIO FOBOS” is primarily on advertising and fashion photography, and Hitomi excelled in all professional skills associated both with commercial photography and the business of art.
Hitomi arrived in the U.S. at the age of 31 to expand her career opportunities by working in the advertising industry. she published work internationally for Target, Walmart, Toys R Us, and Sears in books, magazines, posters, and on the internet. Hitomi continues working as a professional photographer in the commercial photography industry, but her main interest remains fine arts where she combines photography with painting, print-making, and multi-media materials, like resin, wax, gold leaf, oil pastel and collage.
Hitomi maintains an active career as an artist and commercial photographer in both NYC and Tokyo with recent exhibition at Lambert Fine Arts, Dacia Gallery and hpgrp gallery.
